National Inclusion Week (NIW) 2023 Take Action Make Impact is just around the corner, but if you are only just learning about National Inclusion Week or you haven’t had the time or capacity to prepare your own activities for the week, don’t worry! There are lots of last minute ways you can get involved and engage your team to celebrate and highlight inclusion and diversity in your workplace.

As part of National Inclusion Week Inclusive Employers have provided a wealth of free I&D resources which can support with your activities and workplace inclusion!
The NIW toolkit contains daily actions which you can take each day during NIW to celebrate and highlight inclusion within your organisation. These actions help you to embrace the theme of Take Action Make Impact and demonstrate your commitment to inclusion. There are also how to guides, top tips, meeting starters and a quiz, all for your use, along with some graphics and logos for you to utilise on your communications and socials.
We also have a series of free webinar events for the week – perfect for I&D managers or leaders to attend to increase knowledge and understanding which can be fed back to your organisation. These include inclusive recruitment, taking care of mental health, cultural awareness, community engagement in sport and more!

Get active in your internal and external comms
The first step to getting your teams engaged and involved is to inform them about NIW and what you want to achieve in the week. Send out some communications via your internal comms, explaining the theme and activities you’d like to do. Ask people to get involved and share some stories or experiences of great examples of inclusion in your workplace and where things could improve. Share some of your insights and activities during the week on socials and engage with other organisations taking part using the hashtags #NationalInclusionWeek2023 and #TakeActionMakeImpact.

If you are early on in your I&D journey, starting conversations about I&D might be challenging, people may be unsure or feel vulnerable. How about using NIW as a stepping stone to opening up the conversation? Why not share your thoughts on the theme Take Action Make Impact and ask others to share what it means to them? This can be a great way to break the ice.
