We’re delighted that Inclusive Employers’ member, Correla, is partnering with us for this year’s National Inclusion Week (NIW).
In this interview, you will learn how Correla uses NIW to champion inclusion and how they benefit from their partnership with Inclusive Employers.
Read on to learn more.
1. When did Correla start working with Inclusive Employers, and why?
Correla has partnered with Inclusive Employers since our first year of operation in 2021. It was important for us to team up with the leader in workplace inclusion who could help us continue driving our commitment to an inclusive and diverse business.
2. Can you tell us about your inclusion journey during your time as a member?
We’re now in the third year of our journey, which has already seen us launch several impactful activities and initiatives across the business.
Our first year we were focused on “Setting our Foundations”. We invited our colleagues for the first time to share their diversity information and take part in an engagement survey which included specific questions around Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion to help us measure the impact our work was having on colleagues.
We analysed the data at the end of our first year to make us aware of the areas we needed to improve on across the organisation, so we could then set strategic and aspirational targets to drive forward progress.
The second and third year is all about “Building the Momentum”. We developed and expanded our initiatives, with a particular focus on improving our diverse recruitment strategy. We want to continue recruiting talented people from a range of backgrounds, groups and cultures who bring different perspectives, life experiences and a diversity of thinking to our business.
Next year it will be about “Review and Refresh”. It is essential to review our strategy set at the beginning of 2021 to see if it is still relevant, if it is achieving what we set it out to do and if there are any areas we can improve.
3. What are the benefits of being an Inclusive Employers member in 2023?
The benefits include being part of a community of organisations that are all on the same journey and working towards the same goal to make inclusion an everyday reality.
Being a member also means having access to expert guidance, resources and insight into best practice which is something every organisation could take value from – as even though we are all making progress, we know there is still more to do in.

Correla is delighted to be sponsoring National Inclusion Week! We are committed to being a diverse and inclusive workplace where our people can indeed be themselves and fulfil their potential, so it is a very important date in our calendar. We’ve benefited from participating in the last two years thanks to Inclusive Employer’s excellent campaigns, and we wanted to contribute more in 2023 and take it to the next level.
5. How do you use National Inclusion Week as a platform in your organisation?
Whilst we acknowledge that Inclusion and Diversity isn’t just something we focus on for one week of the year, the week gives us all a dedicated platform to amplify awareness, champion change and celebrate differences.
We run a programme of activities in National Inclusion Week to bring our people together to talk openly and share their ideas, thoughts and experiences. These include interactive webinars, sharing colleagues’ #MyWholeSelfStories, holding “Let’s Talk About…” sessions and inviting colleagues to contribute to our Commitment Board. The week is about us listening, engaging and shining a light on our people.
6. Do you have any advice for other employers on how to get involved with NIW this year?
There are so many ways to get involved with National Inclusion Week no matter where anyone is on their I&D journey. Here are Correla’s top tips:
- First, secure the date in diaries within your business so people are aware when it is happening and can protect time in their schedules to be involved.
- Get in touch with a consultant from Inclusive Employers to book in-house training, and request all the information about the theme and what’s available to you during that week.
- Communicate with colleagues, leaders, and Employee Resource Groups within your organisation to help promote and maximise engagement.
- The week is about your people, so think about the easiest ways for them to be able to be involved. For example, Correla operates a flexible workplace and hybrid working so including online events boosted participation for us as more people were able to attend than if we had hosted everything at our central office.
- You can learn so much during the week so before the date arrives, we always think about what we would like to achieve from it. For us this is all about participation and engagement, increase of awareness and how this new awareness will make a difference.
National Inclusion Week is a fantastic opportunity for employers to unite people, raise awareness and share stories of success, and we recommend signing up early!
A huge thank you to Correla for joining us as a sponsor for National Inclusion Week 2023 and for sharing their experience here.
If you still need to be signed up for NIW 2023, you can find out more and register today!
