Inequality in the LGBTQ+ Community and Proactive Allyship
Inequality in the LGBTQ+ Community and Proactive Allyship
July 31 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Webinar overview
When we have insights, we can take meaningful action. This session aims to explore the existing evidence and opportunities to tackle current inequalities. The 2021 census data released in 2023 was the first UK census that has asked people about their sexual orientation and gender identity. For the first time we have insight that:
- For people aged 16 and over, more than 748,000 (1.5%) identify as gay or lesbian, and 624,000 (1.3%) as bisexual – 165,000 people identify as “other” sexual orientations.
- 262,000 people (0.5%) said their gender identity was different from their sex registered at birth.
By developing ourselves and colleagues as proactive allies, armed with insights and tactics to celebrate diversity and increase inclusion we can make our workplaces and services safer, fairer places for LGBTQ+ people to be.
This webinar is hosted by Jenni Salkeld, I&D expert from Inclusive Employers.
Jenni is a Senior Inclusion and Diversity Consultant, supporting members to develop their inclusive culture to unlock the potential of their workforces.
She has delivered change projects and programmes within arts, culture, homelessness, and policing, with expertise in supporting public service organisations to understand and meet their public sector equality duties. Find out more about Jenni.
