In 2017, we teamed up with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) to provide our own set of Inclusion and Diversity Qualifications. At Inclusive Employers, we’ve seen many colleagues and clients naturally progress into inclusion and diversity roles through HR, recruitment and L&D, but just as often people tend to do inclusion and diversity, “off the side of their desk.” No matter the career path, we’ve always heard the same questions: How do I progress my career in inclusion and diversity? What sort of qualifications do I need? How can I prove I can do what I do!?

In 2017, we decided that we wanted to answer these questions and enable budding inclusioneers to consolidate and enhance their knowledge, skills and expertise. The solution: we teamed up with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) to provide our own set of Inclusion and Diversity Qualifications.

Our Level 4 Inclusion Qualification is for aspiring Inclusion Champions: you might be a Network Lead, ally or simply have a passion for inclusion and learning more! This course comprises one module, Promoting Equality and Diversity, and lasts two days.

Our Level 6 Inclusion Qualification is aimed at those with a more strategic focus on inclusion and diversity. You are directing strategy, setting agendas and aiming to influence your organisation both at the grassroots and exec board level. This course lasts six days and is made up of two modules: Leading Equality and Diversity; and Managing Organisational Culture.


Which Inclusion and Diversity Qualification course is right for me?

Level 6 Certificate in Inclusion

The Level 6 Certificate is split into three modules.

  • Module 1 focuses on Leading Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
  • Module 2 is Organisational Culture
  • Module 3 looks at Coaching Skills for Leaders

The course lasts six days, in three sets of two consecutive days, and is aimed at those in strategic positions or those able to influence policy and culture change (either within their own or other organisations).  

As a CMI accredited course, there is a total time commitment of 58 hours over a 12 month period, comprising Zoom classroom delivery plus attendance at Inclusive Employers webinars. You will be expected to undertake your own research on top of this time and complete a number of tasks and essays.

We’ve had a number of former students cite the course for providing them with the tools to change national strategy within their business and advance their careers further in the D&I field.   

The Level 6 course is £2,450 + VAT for all virtual training, materials and support (Inclusive Employers members receive a 10% discount).

Level 4 Award in Inclusion

This qualification is made up of one unit, Promoting Equality and Diversity and is aimed at those who are just starting their D&I journeys, inclusion champions, or staff network leads.

Course content will cover the following:

  • The business case
  • Legal framework
  • Unconscious bias
  • Organisational culture
  • Leveraging staff networks
  • Role of inclusion champions
  • Date – what? Why? How?

The course will last two consecutive days in the virtual classroom, with further time spent under guidance or supervision, doing individual research and learning and completing assignments. The total time to complete the course will be roughly 60 hours but you may complete the course more quickly depending on your previous experience.

The Level 4 course is £899 + VAT for all virtual training, materials and support (Inclusive Employers members receive a 10% discount).
