As families struggle to meet the rising costs of housing, education, and necessities, they often have to make difficult choices regarding extracurricular activities for themselves and their children. Sports clubs and organisations require funding to maintain facilities, equipment, and coaching staff, which can become unaffordable for many families. Consequently, fewer children have access to organised sports, limiting their physical and social development.
Talent and high performance, and Professional Sports

Many individuals with high potential, may be forced to abandon their dreams due to financial constraints. As a result, the number of athletes from less affluent backgrounds in talent pathways diminishes, depriving sports of potentially exceptional athletes.
Moreover, the financial burden on NGBs, sports clubs and organizations is amplified. High rents, property prices and energy costs make it difficult for clubs and organisations to secure suitable facilities, impacting training and matchday preparations. Additionally, the rising cost of living hampers clubs’ and organisations’ ability to attract and retain quality coaching staff and fund practitioner roles impacting the development of athletes and the overall competitiveness of the sport.
