Anti-racism in the Workplace

Our Inclusive Employers’ anti-racism toolkit, ‘Building an anti-racist culture: A toolkit for your workplace’ has been created to help you to embed an anti-racist culture in your organisation.

About the Inclusive Employers anti-racism toolkit

We are incredibly excited to finally launch our anti-racism toolkit! It’s been a year in the making and we have created a toolkit that is practical and useful for all employers, no matter where your organisation’s anti-racism work is right now.

Following racist events in the UK and across the globe we knew we needed to do something to create lasting change and agreed that our expertise and experience would be best used in the context of the workplace.

We took the time to speak to lots of different organisations about where they are with anti-racism and put in many months of research. We wanted to understand how and why we got here, how racism affects everyone, and how we could work to solve the problem within our workplaces – and, by extension, society. By adding our professional experience, we created a toolkit that helps you to make practical changes. It discusses the why, describes the what, and, most important of all, helps you with the how.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to all those who have shared their experience and expertise, helping us to shape our work.

The toolkit itself is a guide to taking practical action.

It is available to purchase as a full toolkit with ‘how to’ guides included:

Why we need an anti-racism toolkit

Ethnic minority people are still not proportionally represented in the workplace. We’re still seeing CEOs blaming a lack of diverse talent in the pipeline, rather than a commitment to understanding why attraction and retention processes are failing. Employees are reporting that they have received unfair treatment because of their race. Unemployment figures are much higher among ethnic minority groups. We know from research that diverse teams make businesses more successful in every way.

Our infographic looks at the reality of racism in UK workplaces and highlights how we still have a long way to go to embed anti-racist cultures in the workplace.
