Clare Robertson | Inclusive Employers

Clare is a Senior Inclusion and Diversity Consultant, and a member of the Global team. She provides expert advice and support to a broad range of clients across all sectors with positivity and professionalism.

Before joining Inclusive Employers Clare worked for 11 years in Australia leading on Global Inclusion and Diversity strategies in both the Federal Government and For Purpose Sectors. Clare started her career at home in the UK, as a parliamentary researcher and speech writer in the House of Commons after studying Politics and Languages in Stockholm and Glasgow. She later became a Secondary School teacher and worked in the UK and Europe as an English, European Languages and Additional Support Needs and Disability Specialist.

What do you enjoy about your role at Inclusive Employers?

Working with our varied and dedicated members, it’s a true pleasure to support and advise them to help embed inclusion into the heart of their organisation. I also love working with colleagues who share such passion for their roles and the mission of Inclusive Employers. You never feel alone here.

What has been your biggest achievement to date?

I am very proud of the Neurodiversity advocacy and First Nations Indigenous Inclusion work I did in Australia and seeing the global Inclusion strategies I developed come to life and make real sustainable changes for the better.

What is the best advice you have ever been given?

I can credit Oscar Wilde for this one, so it’s indirectly given to me, but I live by it; “be yourself; everyone else is already taken.”

Tell us something about you that we might not know

I got my autism diagnosis later in life, which helped me learn to understand myself and be kinder to myself. Some of my many passions and interests are Lego, creating art, bird watching, vintage trains, linguistics and language, jazz music, and art deco architecture. I even used to get hired as a flapper to open events like the Great Gatsby movie in Australia! (Jazz hands at the ready). I am also proudly Scottish, and love our nature, rich culture, music, and heritage, as well as our whisky.
