Mental Health First Aid Training: why you need it
- One in six employees will be experiencing depression, anxiety or stress related issues (Centre for Mental Health, 2010)
- Mental ill health costs UK employers £34.9 billion each year or £1,300 for per employee. Broken down, this equates to £10.6 billion in sickness absence, £21.2 billion in reduced productivity, and £3.1 billion in replacing staff who leave their jobs for mental health-related reasons (Centre for Mental Health, 2017)
- Work-related stress alone accounted for 45% of all working days lost to ill health in 2015/16 (Health and Safety Executive, 2017).

Mental Health First Aid Training: what is our approach
Robyn Lewis, our accredited MHFA instructor, will run the programme over two consecutive days. The days will be a mix of presentations, group discussions and group work activities. We are currently delivering open or in-house courses via Zoom.
Mental Health First Aid: what you will learn
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the mental health equivalent of physical first aid, providing participants with the skills and confidence to recognise the signs and symptoms of common mental health issues.
Developing your skills to look after your own and others’ wellbeing and reduce the stigma associated with mental ill-health. You’ll learn how to:
- Spot the early signs of a mental health problem or illness;
- Feel confident helping someone experiencing a mental health problem;
- Provide help and support on a first aid basis;
- Effectively guide and signpost someone toward the right support;
- Reduce the stigma of mental health problems / illness.
Upon successfully completing the Adult MHFA Two Day course you’ll become a qualified Mental Health First Aider.

The programme can run with 8-16 delegates. Each delegate will receive a full MHFA England accredited certificate, workbook, manual and handy action card for continuous learning.

Each course is available for between 8-16 delegates, aimed at those wanting to support adults experiencing mental health problems in the workplace. You don’t need any prior qualifications or need to be in a specific role, you’ll just be ready to learn how to support yourself and others.
