Black Asian and Minority Ethnic Leadership
In the current context of the swell of support for the Black Lives Matter movement and racial equality we want highlight that this programme has always been positioned as supporting colleagues from minority groups and bridging gaps between senior leaders and these colleagues. The course alone cannot change the system but what it can do, and has done, is 1) give ethnic minority colleagues the skills to progress and 2) enable senior leaders support through mentoring and sponsorship. Cultural change is achieved through bottom up and top down initiatives. That’s why it’s so important that attendees secure mentors and sponsors, as soon as possible.
At Inclusive Employers we are experienced in designing and delivering specific development programs for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic employees who aspire to leadership roles. We can design a bespoke programme that equips your colleagues with the skills, confidence and knowledge to be ready for promotion opportunities.
We will design the programme in consultation with you but we have included below an overview of some of the themes which could be included:
Theme 1 – Self Awareness and Leadership:
The importance of self-reflection, confidence building and the need for life-long learning will be emphasised. Delegates will be encouraged to honestly assess their strengths and weaknesses before working to define their ‘personal brand’ and understand their own leadership qualities.
Theme 2 – Communication Skills:
The ability to communicate effectively and persuasively to be able to convince others, address concerns and convey confidence will be explored here. Delegates will be encouraged to reflect and shape their own ‘stories’ to enable them to communicate their career goals clearly and confidently.
Theme 3 – Goal Setting:
Successful professionals have clear goals in mind. The importance of setting SMART professional goals will be emphasised and developed.
Theme 4 – Commercial Awareness:
Understanding the sector your organisation operates in is key being an innovative and effective leader. Delegates will explore ways to improve their commercial awareness.
Theme 5 – Relationship Building:
Building relationships is essential to achieving personal and professional success. We will explore ways to build and leverage mutually beneficial relationships that can enable career growth.
