Supporting anti-racism in your organisation - Inclusive Employers

Supporting anti-racism in your organisation

At Inclusive Employers, our work to drive the momentum on the Black Lives Matter movement works across two platforms: Amplification and Allyship. We have developed, and will continue to produce, resources to support you – our members, clients and colleagues – in our work to Amplify Black Voices and create true Human Allies. It is part of our continued commitment to absolute inclusion.

Amplifying Black voices

We understand that Black colleagues experience different exclusion to other Black Asian and Ethnic Minority colleagues. Our work here will focus on reviewing our internal processes and platforms to identify how we can best use them to champion Black voices, and those of all ethnic minority groups, more effectively.

Our recommendations to our members, clients and colleagues for doing this work include:

Take a look at our top tips sheet, Raising Awareness of the racism and the significance of the Black Lives Matter movement. Follow the link to download our practical advice on what action to take and why, both as an individual and to support your colleagues and team.

We have recently launched our new anti-racism toolkit, Building anti-racist cultures: a toolkit for your workplace, which contains practical advice for all employers, no matter where your organisation’s anti-racism work is right now.

In 2016, we developed the Black Asian and Ethnic Minority Challenge Toolkit in partnership with the House of Commons Inclusion and Diversity Team. The mission was to call on businesses to think more intentionally about how they attract, recruit and develop Black Asian and Ethnic Minority employees. We are now making three of these resources available for you free of charge. These are:

We’re also offering facilitated Inclusion Circles to open up conversations with our members about Black Lives Matter, amplifying black voices and being human allies. These may take the form of a chat, how staff are feeling and what they think their organisations could be doing better. We recommend sessions targeted at the wider Black Asian and Ethnic Minority workforce also include a presence from a network lead or inclusion champion who can actively feedback and help develop actions that may arise out of these sessions.

Human allies

We all have the opportunity and responsibility to stand up and address the inequalities that our Black colleagues and friends experience. As we stand strong together, join us in committing and taking action to become a Human Ally.

Our recommendations to our members, clients and colleagues for doing this work include:

  • Training on language and terminology
  • Bystander training
  • Courageous conversations
  • Let’s talk about race training programme

Please contact us via our quick enquiry form so we can discuss the resources, training and consultancy that will be most beneficial for your organisation to commit and take action to amplify Black voices and become human allies.
