We are thrilled to announce our second Global Inclusion Week, taking place from 10 – 14 June 2024. This week is your passport to a dynamic world of global inclusion. The campaign will be full of inspiring events, practical resources, and inspiring content to help you make an inclusion impact across your global and multinational organisations.
What is Global Inclusion Week?
Global Inclusion Week is a campaign hosted by Inclusive Employers that focuses on elevating global inclusion, culminating in a dynamic week of events championing inclusion at a global level. The week and campaign will bring together our members to share best practice, foster connections between global organisations, and an opportunity to hear from inspiring guest speakers doing ground breaking work in this field.
The theme of Global Inclusion Week and why
The theme for 2024 is Cultural Intelligence: Inclusion Across Cultures, an exploration of the dynamic landscape of opportunities and challenges that organisations face in engaging and connecting with colleagues operating across the globe. Through our campaign, from the week’s events to our toolkits and content, we will explore the complexities of fostering inclusivity in culturally diverse settings.
Why cultural intelligence?
Cultural intelligence is not just a requisite for those working in global organisations; it is a fundamental necessity for everyone operating in multicultural environments.
The journey toward inclusion requires an open approach that not only values diversity of cultures and nationalities, but also appreciates the intricacy of navigating across environments with diverse dynamics, mindsets and approaches.
This shift in perspective can be both challenging and immensely enriching. Throughout our lives, we are conditioned to perceive our cultural environment as the ‘default,’ the benchmark against which all others are measured. Stepping outside this mindset and fostering openness to possibilities is not only enriching on a personal level but also crucial in dismantling barriers that perpetuate cultural inequalities.
Edward T. Hall’s statement, “culture hides much more than it reveals, and strangely enough, what it hides, it hides most effectively from its own participants” reminds us of the inherent complexities within our cultural perspectives. Global Inclusion Week 2024 seeks to support individuals and organisations on building connections, making a difference in the global forum.
