When everything feels important, it can be hard to know where to focus

Many organisations are committed to inclusion, but struggle to know where to focus next. You may have policies, training, networks or leadership commitments in place, but still need a clearer view of what is working, where progress is stalling and what will create the greatest value.

The Inclusive Employers Assessment helps you step back, understand your current maturity and identify practical priorities for action.

Use the Assessment to:

  • Understand your current inclusion maturity
  • Identify strengths, gaps and areas for development
  • Prioritise actions that support measurable progress
  • Build a clearer case for inclusion investment
  • Create an action plan for your next stage of work
  • Prepare for future accreditation through the Inclusive Employers Standard

The Inclusive Employers Assessment is a structured diagnostic tool that helps you understand your organisation’s inclusion maturity and decide where to focus next.

You will complete 12 multiple-choice questions across four inclusion pillars. Each question focuses on an area of practice that is vital to building inclusive culture that is practical, measurable and sustainable.

The Assessment is not an accreditation or award. It is designed to give you a clear starting point for reflection, planning and action before moving towards deeper accreditation through the Inclusive Employers Standard.

Four pillars of inclusion maturity

The Assessment measures inclusion maturity across four practical pillars. Together, they show whether inclusive culture is owned, embedded, enabled and measured across your organisation.

Ownership

How accountability, responsibility and strategy are owned across the organisation.

Systems

How policies, processes and ways of working shape people’s day-to-day experience.

Enablement

How leaders, managers and teams are equipped with the guidance, tools and capability to make inclusion part of everyday work.

Impact

How your organisation measures progress and understands whether inclusion activity is creating meaningful, sustained change.

Step 1: Complete the online self-assessment

Answer 12 multiple-choice questions and choose the statements that best reflect your organisation’s current approach.

Step 2: Receive your tailored report

Within 10 days of completion, you will receive a report showing your results across the four pillars.

Step 3: Review your recommended actions

Your report highlights areas for consideration and brings your recommendations together in a draft action plan.

Step 4: Turn your results into a practical next step

Your Assessment includes a debrief session with a senior inclusion professional. Together, you will explore what your results mean, where to focus first and how your organisation can move from insight to action.

You do not just get a score. You get a route forward.

Your Assessment report is designed to help you make better decisions about where to focus time, budget and effort.

Summary of results

A clear overview of your maturity across the four pillars, helping you see where your organisation is strongest and where progress may be needed.

Detailed results

Feedback and considerations for each question, helping you understand what your current approach suggests about your wider inclusion maturity and what you could do to increase your impact.

Draft action plan

A practical template that brings your recommended actions together, so you can prioritise, assign ownership and track progress.

Expert debrief

A session with a senior inclusion professional to help you interpret the findings, tailor your next steps and identify where further support could help.

Build the case for inclusive culture investment

Inclusion leaders are increasingly being asked to show where activity is creating value and where further investment is needed.

The Inclusive Employers Assessment gives you a practical evidence base for those conversations. It helps you understand your current maturity, identify where progress could be stronger and prioritise actions that support more measurable, sustainable change.

Use your results to support conversations about:

  • Future learning, consultancy or partnership support
  • Accountability and ownership
  • Leadership and manager capability
  • Policy, process and employee experience
  • Measuring progress and impact
  • Preparing for accreditation

Your results indicate one of four maturity levels. These descriptors are designed to help you reflect on your current approach and understand what kind of progress may be needed next.

Early

Your organisation may be at the beginning of its inclusion journey, or focusing on actions that are not yet driving sustained impact.

Emerging

Your organisation is developing its inclusion approach beyond the basics, but may still be focused on more performative activity than strategic work.

Strong

Your organisation has a more considered approach and is responding to specific inclusion challenges in your sector or context.

Advanced

Your organisation has more mature inclusion practice, focused on strategic work, reflection, review and sustained impact.

Note: These maturity levels are indicative only. They support reflection and action; they are not a professionally assessed award standard.

The Inclusive Employers Assessment is a practical entry point for organisations that want to understand their inclusion maturity and identify what to prioritise next.

When you are ready to evidence your work, benchmark performance in more depth and gain external recognition, the natural next step is the Inclusive Employers Standard.

The Inclusive Employers Standard gives you a deeper, evidence-based accreditation route, helping you demonstrate commitment, strengthen your business case and show that inclusion is integral to your organisation.

The Inclusive Employers Assessment and the Inclusive Employers Standard support different stages of your inclusion journey. Start with the Assessment if you need clarity, priorities and a practical route forward. Progress to the Standard when you are ready for deeper evidence review, benchmarking and formal recognition.

Benchmarking can help you understand where you are. The Inclusive Employers Assessment is designed to help you understand what to do next.

Like Onvero’s TIDE, the Inclusive Employers Assessment uses a structured self-assessment approach to help organisations reflect on their inclusion practice. Both tools can support benchmarking and provide a clearer view of where your organisation is on its inclusion journey.

The Inclusive Employers’ difference is the action-focused support built into the Assessment. You receive diagnostic insight, practical recommendations, a draft action plan and a debrief session with a senior inclusion professional.

So you do not just understand the gap. You begin to close it.
