Assistant Accountant

Megan joined Inclusive Employers in March 2024 as an Assistant Accountant. She manages Accounts Receivable as well as providing management accounts support and financial analysis to help drive the business’s goals.

Megan’s journey into finance is somewhat unconventional, as she initially studied French, Spanish, and Linguistics at university. Megan’s career in finance began as a Finance Coordinator where her interest was piqued. Through study and progression in various roles, she is now in the final stages of her AAT qualification with aspirations to eventually become a chartered accountant.

What do you enjoy about your role at Inclusive Employers?

I feel genuinely lucky to work in such a supportive and caring environment at Inclusive Employers. On top of that, I really enjoy the analytical challenges that come with my role in finance, especially when it involves tackling complex problems. I love digging into financial (and system) issues and finding solutions that help keep things running smoothly. Being able to blend my accounting skills and development with my commitment to promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace is what makes my job here so fulfilling.

What has been your biggest achievement to date?

Something I am quite proud of is my involvement in advancing EDI initiatives in my previous role. When I joined, there were no established EDI programs, so I took the initiative to advocate for their development. It was incredibly rewarding to see the positive impact these changes had on colleagues and it’s great to know that the momentum for these initiatives has continued even after I left.

What is the best advice you have ever been given?

Be yourself – everybody else is taken.

Tell us something about you that we might not know

I played Steel Pans for over a decade – and still dabble when I get the time. I was lucky enough to perform and compete in various carnivals and competitions across the UK and globally (including Trinidad – home of the Steel Pan). I once competed in 5 Panoramas in one year!
