Senior Inclusion and Diversity Consultant
Jill joined Inclusive Employers in April 2024 after 23 years in the Police Service. Jill’s passion for DEI matters was sparked by lived experience of being a Lone female amongst seventy male officers in the Police Armed response section. Her desire to change and shape the future for other women in her position gave her the drive to delve into the world of Inclusion.
Jill finished her career at Inspector Rank, having received training through the high potential development scheme at the College of Policing.
She worked as a DEI specialist developing and implementing DEI strategy and training in both Internal and external aspects of Customer Contact in policing. She delivered impactful training looking at unconscious bias, topical reports, policies and procedures in an empathetic yet impactful manner. She has been involved in researching and writing reports into the treatment of detained children and addressing inequality in the criminal justice system, worked to implement the National Police Race Action Plan, translated and delivered improvements based on various national reports into policing and to design and implement policy that used an innovative restorative justice led technique to address Hate crime.
Jill has experience of mentoring and line managing diverse teams in high pressure situations, leading trauma reduction debriefs, handling and resolution of public complaints, critical incident diagnosis and management.
Jill volunteered nationally for the police women’s staff network, planning and implementing an anti-racist protocol for a national awards ceremony that impacted directly on the volume of ethnic diversity in both nominations and winners.
Jill has studied Data analysis and Evidence based practice and holds a qualification in Diversity and Inclusion.
Working in an incredible team of inclusivity experts. The ranges of lived and professional experience is second to none. Working alongside the perfect blend of people with both academic, lived and practical experience makes doing this role a continuous journey of learning and practicing amongst the best.
When I realised I could take a piece of training I had written for the policing sector and make a tangible output from it in terms of front line anti racist practice. It’s so rewarding to help people see how a concept can turn from words to actions.
Make your decisions with objectivity, but deliver the conclusion with compassion.
I spent five years working as an armed response police officer.
