Iona is a Senior Business Development Consultant. Since discovering Marxism in GCSE Sociology at the age of 15, interests of Iona’s have been culture, politics, and race, and how history has contributed to societies in which many people are marginalised and face immense inequalities in their lives. Developing into a passion for Social Justice over the years, Iona moved into the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion space in 2021, when her first role within the sector was to work with some of the world’s leading banking and professional services firms, to help them to diversify their pipelines of early talent.

A natural communicator and excelling at building relationships, Iona’s roles have continued to develop, nurturing mutually beneficial partnerships within Social Value and EDI, making her role at Inclusive Employers an obvious next step.

What do you enjoy about your role at Inclusive Employers?

That I am able to use my passion for social justice and equity, diversity and inclusion, to inspire and lead organisations by example to become more inclusive, opening doors and creating a higher level of psychological safety for underrepresented groups in the workplace.

What has been your biggest achievement to date?

As a woman, a person of colour, a single mother and being neuro divergent, I possess a number of characteristics that society has made into potential barriers to progression. My greatest achievements are carving out a fulfilling career and balancing parenthood, all while being able to be me!

Follow your passions, your success will follow and that within challenges is where growth happens.

I did trapeze in a circus group for 8 years!
