Senior Inclusion and Diversity Consultant
Courtney Wright joined the Inclusive Employers team in October 2021, from a Human Resources background, bringing practical experience of implementing diversity, inclusion, engagement and wellbeing initiatives in the charity sector.
She has worked closely with Employee Voice Groups and staff networks and champions the value that staff voice can have towards achieving inclusion and diversity aims. Courtney also has a specific interest in social mobility, LGBTQ+ inclusion, ethnicity, and intersectionality.
The thing I love most about my role at Inclusive Employers is being able to meet so many different people each week who share their thoughts and perspectives with us in training sessions. There’s so much value in sharing personal stories and even though we’re the experts, there’s always more we can learn from others!
I recently took part in a mentorship program as a mentor, which I initially thought was outside of my comfort zone. I thoroughly enjoyed this process and I’m still in touch with my mentee who achieved the goals they’d set out at the beginning of the programme, including securing a new job!
Whilst this is technically their achievement rather than mine, it was incredibly rewarding to support them through that process and watch their confidence grow – as well as being a fantastic opportunity to learn a new set of skills myself.
“Everybody is winging it a little bit.”
In one of my previous jobs, I was sat on a table with a senior manager at our organisation’s awards event and she said she was nervous to get up on stage and deliver a speech. I told her I was surprised as she seemed so confident on stage and speaking in public. Reminding yourself that even those you admire get nervous sometimes really helps keep imposter syndrome at bay – we’re all human after all.
I love running, walking and being outdoors – preferably in the sun though!
