Inclusive Employers Standard

The Inclusive Employer’s Standard (IES) is the evidence-based workplace accreditation tool for inclusion and diversity. Participants answer 35 questions that cover all the protected characteristics and wider I&D themes. We use the responses to measure inclusion and diversity within an organisation and assess where you are at on your I&D journey.

The questions are divided across six pillars of inclusion, that measure all areas of your I&D activity. You get more than a workplace accreditation when you participate in the Inclusive Employers Standard. You get bespoke, action-focused feedback that you can use to progress your I&D strategy and embed workplace inclusion.

The IES highlights to your people and stakeholders that inclusion is integral to your organisation and that you understand the business case for I&D.

How do you gain your I&D workplace accreditation?

  1. Express your interest by completing this quick form
  2. Once registered, you can access the IES online portal to start the submission process.
  3. The online portal contains detailed guidance to help support you with answering each question and your overall submission.
  4. You will complete 35 questions as part of the submission, each question will also require evidence. Evidence is uploaded directly to the online form, ranging from copies of policies, meeting notes/agendas, screenshots from your intranet links to videos, etc as long as it demonstrates that activity has taken place to support how you have answered each question.
  5. Once submitted, your response is marked and verified by trained assessors to give you an independent measure of your organisation’s inclusion.
  6. You receive a written report giving detailed feedback on your submission. The report highlights your areas of strength and areas of focus within the six pillars of inclusion, giving you a platform to progress your I&D strategy continually.
  7. You have the option of a feedback meeting to drill down further into the areas of focus identified in your report.
  8. Organisations that achieve the accredited outcomes of either Bronze, Silver or Gold will receive certificates and a logo so you can proudly display your commitment to I&D and be invited to join our celebration event! If organisations do not reach the criteria for accreditation they are awarded a committed status to reflect their commitment to becoming an Inclusive Employer.
  9. Continue to monitor your approach to workplace inclusion by participating in the IES in the future so you can review and measure your I&D progress.
