Central location, London
Loneliness is now becoming a chronic problem across the UK. In a 2016 survey by the British Red Cross and Co-op, 9 million people - almost a fifth of the UK population - said they are always or often lonely, but almost two-thirds feel uncomfortable admitting to it.
Given that many people's only source of interaction with other people is through work, employers have a crucial role to play in tackling the loneliness epidemic. However, many employers may be unsure how to help a colleague or employee who is experiencing loneliness, or be unable to recognise the signs that someone is lonely.
