Kat joined Inclusive Employers in May 2022 as Events and Membership Officer. She plays an importance role supporting the Inclusive Sports Team and the Membership Desk.

Kat has over 20 years’ experience of working in charity and membership organisations, specialising in the provision of senior administrative support and project management.

She has extensive experience of developing and managing operational support systems, as well as working with clients, service providers, statutory bodies, and internal and external stakeholders.

She also has substantial experience of working in event management and in undertaking communications and engagement activities.

What do you enjoy about your role at Inclusive Employers?

As I am very new to the organisation, I am still finding my feet however my main observation is how friendly, caring, supportive and helpful everyone has been towards me. Starting a new role at any organisation can be stressful but I have been made to feel so welcome, which has certainly set me off ‘on the right foot’ as a new employee. 

What has been your biggest achievement to date?

I would say that the inclusion focused professional initiative that I am most proud is the work I carried out in a previous role at Greater Manchester Centre for Voluntary Organisation (GMCVO).

I worked with the Manchester Deaf Centre (MDC) to improve the inclusivity and accessibility of their online and face-to-face events to d/Deaf delegates from across Greater Manchester.

This involved working with interpreters from the MDC to agree and produce an events registration process for d/Deaf delegates (including those who are unable to speak or read English), enabling them to attend a GMCVO hosted event and to book any communications support they may need during the event through the MDC.

A BSL video explaining this process was produced and embedded onto the events page of GMCVO’s website to serve as a readily available resource for d/Deaf delegates wishing to book onto one of our events and served as an organisation wide protocol for any individual/team running a GMCVO hosted event in Greater Manchester.

What is the best advice you have ever been given?

I wouldn’t say this is advice, but it is something I have learnt through life experience and that I have always found to be true – whatever life throws at you, you are always stronger than you think you are!!

Tell us something about you that we might not know.

My parents were both Hungarian so, whilst I was born in the UK, I am 100% Hungarian.

I grew up speaking Hungarian and did not learn English until I was 4 years of age so, technically, English is my second language although I am no longer able to speak/understand Hungarian which is a deep regret of mine.

I have considered taking lessons, but ironically, languages are not my strength, lol!
