Inequality in the LGBTQ+ Community and Proactive Allyship

When we have insights, we can take meaningful action. This session aims to explore the existing evidence and opportunities to tackle current inequalities. The 2021 census data released in 2023 was the first UK census that has asked people about their sexual orientation and gender identity. By developing ourselves and colleagues as proactive allies, armed with insights and tactics to celebrate diversity and increase inclusion we can make our workplaces and services safer, fairer places for LGBTQ+ people to be.

    Understanding and Challenging Islamophobia

Islamophobia is prevalent in the UK today. It can come in the form of microaggressions to hate crimes, including stereotyping, bullying, verbal comments, discrimination, barriers to employment, inaccessible policies, harmful media portrayal, physical violence and in many other ways. This November, Islamophobia Awareness Month, we’d like to highlight and raise awareness of what our Muslim colleagues are facing on a daily basis and how to empathise, support and ally them so that we can create an inclusive workplace for all.

    Effective Anti-Racism Allyship in Action

Take Action: Challenging Anti-Wokeness and Building the Case for I&D

Progress in society and the workplace will always come up against some resistance. Those in a position of privilege and power, knowingly or unknowingly, often struggle to give up some of that privilege and power to make space for others.

The term ‘woke’, originating in the Black community in the US meaning to be aware of the oppression that Black people experience in the US, has been mischaracterised as ‘going too far’ or ‘creating something out of nothing’ to give credibility to resisting change and to distract from real issues.

So, how do we challenge this in our organisations, and how do we get buy in from senior leadership who might not consider I&D work a priority?

Join us for the webinar to discuss this topic further and garner some helpful tips to accelerating change in your workplace.

Black Inclusion Week: Unspoken Truths of Allyship

Inclusive Employers are collaborating with the creators of Black Inclusion Week to bring you a panel discussion on the topic Unspoken Truths of Allyship. While allyship can look like supporting colleagues, speaking up, being an active bystander and improving recruitment processes, this event aims to give you tools to take your allyship journey to the next level – to a place of discomfort, sacrifice and creating space for Black individuals and colleagues in ways which will mean giving up power and privilege.

Inclusive Sport: The role of inclusion allies in sport and physical activity

Sports has the power to bring people together as well as bring out our best, but we know that unfair treatment including homophobia, transphobia, sexism and racism remain a significant problem in sport and physical activity.

The only way we will successfully address long held beliefs, systemic barriers and the impact of discrimination and harassment is through the commitment and action of everyone.  The concept of allyship is about everyone playing their part in identifying, speaking up and taking action to address inequalities, from the more overt examples through to the more subtle.
