Reasonable Adjustment

The term ‘reasonable adjustment’ is essentially about making adjustments for disabled people in the work place. All disabled employees regardless of their disability are entitled to a reasonable adjustment and so are disabled job applicants. Employers are required by law to make ‘reasonable adjustments’ to the working environment to enable a disabled person to do their job. The way in which we work can unintentionally create barriers that exclude disabled people. Some of these barriers might be physical, such as stairs being a physical barrier to a wheelchair user; but many are cultural or attitudinal.
